The Mercedes-Benz eIntouro electrifies local public transport between cities and rural areas and is an entry-level model for tourism by electric bus. Cost awareness is a factor in all of these segments, which is why every detail has been considered in the design of the fully electric high-floor bus - always with the aim of optimising effectiveness.
With the Mercedes-Benz eIntouro, Daimler Buses is electrifying classic intercity travel, school bus transport, shuttle, and work transport operations. Based on the proven Intouro, the eIntouro, with its battery-electric drive system, meets all requirements in terms of seating capacity, equipment, and range for a reliable link between city and country.
The usage options for the Mercedes-Benz eIntouro are wide-ranging. IT may be used for classic intercity travel with the battery-electric high-floor bus while it is also great for excursions and shorter trips. Bus companies can put the eIntouro to use as a real dual earner: during the week in scheduled or work transport and at weekends for short trips and excursions.
The new eIntouro is based on the well-known diesel-powered Intouro, but has a battery-electric drive. It is available with a choice of one or two battery packs, each with a capacity of 207 kWh. The lithium-iron-phosphate (LFP) batteries and many of the high-voltage components are already successfully deployed in the battery-electric Mercedes-Benz eActros 600 and guarantee ranges of up to 500 km. The drive system is powered by an electric central motor with integrated transmission. The high proportion of common parts ensures reliability, availability, and cost-effectiveness in operation.
What has long been commonplace in smartphones is now also being used in buses: wireless transmission of system updates to the vehicle. Install updates at a specified time - quickly and without the need for a workshop visit thanks to the new electronics architecture in the eIntouro, combined with the digital service “Over-the-Air Updates” from OMNIplus ON.
The new Mercedes-Benz eIntouro is available with a choice of one or two battery packs, each with a capacity of 207 kWh. The maximum total capacity is 414 kWh. The first battery pack is always located in the space behind the front axle to ensure optimum weight distribution. The optional second battery is located in the rear compartment that historically held the engine.
The CeTrax 2 dual sets new standards in terms of power and efficiency. The electric drive also makes light work of more demanding routes with a continuous output of 320 kW and a maximum output torque of 24,700 Nm. Integrated 850 V silicon carbide (SiC) inverters maximise electrical efficiency and, consequently, the range. The result: more flexible deployment options, better operational efficiency, and lower costs.
No compromise when it comes to safety: the new Mercedes-Benz eIntouro is not only emission-free and comes with state-of-the-art battery technology, this electric intercity bus is also equipped with the latest assistance and safety systems, some of which go far beyond the functions required by law. The sophisticated active safety systems can help your drivers avoid accidents and protect their passengers and other road users even better.
Sideguard Assist 2 is a safety assistance system that supports the driver in critical situations when turning right or turning left when visibility is possibly restricted. The system is designed to help detect moving obstacles within the system limits, and warns the driver so as to avoid critical situations or reduce the consequences of accidents when turning off or changing lanes.
Frontguard Assist is an advanced system that was specially developed to warn drivers of pedestrians located immediately in front of the vehicle and also to warn them of an impending accident. Whether you are pulling away or driving slowly (up to 9.3 mph), the intelligent assistance system can detect potential collisions with unprotected road users.
The ABA 6 Plus emergency braking system assists the driver by automatically initiating emergency braking if there is a risk of a rear-impact collision with vehicles in front or stationary obstacles. It can also detect moving or stationary persons and cyclists in front of the vehicle. The system can respond with an audible and visual warning as well as automatic partial or full-stop braking.
The Mercedes-Benz eIntouro is still as unmistakable and uncomplicated as its diesel-powered counterpart - now it is electric and noticeably quieter.
The ergonomic design, the highest level of safety and the intuitive operating menu make the cockpit of the eIntouro an attractive workplace for drivers.
The Mercedes-Benz eIntouro offers passengers a high level of comfort and is suitable for everyday use in inter-city, school transport, or even day trips.
The Mercedes-Benz eIntouro is practical and functional at first glance. The all-electric high-floor bus, with its steeply protruding windscreen and powerfully designed unit of radiator grille and headlamps, has the brand-typical front end of the Intouro family. The new electric model successfully combines design and functionality.
Enjoy a multi-function steering wheel and a high-resolution driver display. The technology in the eIntouro, designed for the all-electric drive, corresponds to the tried-and-tested displays in The eCitaro and clearly displays all information about the charge level of the batteries - including range and power availability. As is usual for Mercedes-Benz buses, the driver’s workplace offers the highest level of ergonomics and safety. The ABS, ASR and ESP assistance systems are standard equipment.
The entrance area of the Mercedes-Benz eIntouro is instantly inviting, with both a wide entrance with single-wing door at the front or, optionally, with single or double-width entrance in the centre. The 13-metre version of the eIntouro can also be equipped with a water closet in front of the rear entrance. Available in every version of the eIntouro: new-level of travel comfort thanks to the lower driving noise of the eBus.
The Mercedes-Benz eIntouro is based on the well-known diesel-powered Intouro, but has a battery-electric drive. For the first time, we are making it possible for you to switch to electric mobility for classic intercity routes, school bus trips and smaller trips. You can choose between two vehicle lengths: the 12.18-metre-long eIntouro and the 13.09-metre-long eIntouro M.
The two-axle eIntouro with a length of 12.18 metres and a centre aisle height of 860 millimetres is the all-rounder amongst battery-electric high-floor intercity buses. There is a choice of one or two battery packs and a range of up to 500 kilometres, it operates in intercity routes as well as school services, long day trips, and short trips. The range was determined internally under specific conditions, including equipment with a maximum battery capacity, battery in delivery condition, typical city bus operation, and moderate weather scenario, and may differ, for example, from the values determined under Regulation (EU) 2017/2400. The actual range depends on the individual use of the vehicle, the vehicle configuration and other external factors. Therefore, the actual range may be below or above the specified value.
Legal notice on active safety assistance systems: Emergency braking systems and other safety assistance systems can support the driver and mitigate the severity of accidents or prevent accidents in critical driving situations under optimal conditions, within the system limits. However, irrespective of this, the driver has a duty to adapt his driving behaviour and in particular his speed to the traffic and weather conditions and to be attentive at all times. This applies in particular to special situations such as icy or wet roads, rain, crosswind, poor visibility, snowfall, fog, etc. Consequently, the driver, as the driver of the vehicle, has the responsibility for the entire driving situation at all times and must not rely exclusively on the safety assistance systems.
Assistance systems can only support drivers. The driver is always fully responsible for driving the vehicle safely.
